Alpha Dogs and Thiefs of Souls with J. Hali Steele + Win a Kindle

Did you ever wonder what a character from one book might say to another book’s character—or to you if you sat down to have a chat with them? I gave it a try recently, and dang, I felt lucky to get out alive!

Meet Harm Germaine of Controlled-Shepherd’s Watch 4, the always in control alpha dog, and Ion Toso of Healing Hell, pretty boy, and a thief of souls. Let’s see where this takes us.

Harm glanced at author. “Can we move this along, I have a company to run.”

“Jesus, man, you have to work for a living?” Ion ran fingers through his dark hair, making sure the stray curl stayed in place.

Gods, these guys were beautiful and the power in the room was palpable. “Harm, tell us a little about yourself.”

“I run Shepherd’s Watch, a company that provides guard services for the rich and powerful around the world.”

“I’ve never heard of you.” Ion pinched the creases of his pants and grinned. “Or your company.”

“Maybe you’re not rich or powerful enough.” Harm smiled but it never reached his golden brown eyes. “What do you do for a living aside from be pretty.”

That wiped the grin from Ion’s face. “Do you know what I am?”

“Friend, I’ll tear your throat out before you can even move.” Ion’s eyes filled with tiny pinpoints of white light. “And save that squirrely eye shit for humans.” A low growl emanated from Harm’s throat as he leaned forward. “It doesn’t work on my animal’s dysfunctional brain.”

“Oh, I haven’t tried anything yet.” Ion stood. “Because I’d have your dog groveling…”

“Gentlemen, please!” Author nervously tapped her pen on the tablet.

“Okay okay, I’ll be nice to the pooch if he’s nice to me.”

Harm laughed. “That’s rich. Be nice to someone who survives by sucking the souls from humans.”

“Like snatching someone’s throat out is a good thing.” Ion returned to his seat and stretched his long legs. “I guess being able to shift into another form could come in handy though.”

“It does.” Harm settled back. “However, appearing naked in the town square has drawbacks.”

“Shit! When you change back into human form, you’re butt ass naked?”

Harm winked, “Gives the ladies something to talk about.”

“I’ll be damn, you are a dog.”

“I’m a shepherd, thief, don’t get it twisted.”

“I’m Essentiant.” Ion shrugged. “And a soul is a terrible thing to waste.”

Both men laughed and the sound eerily filled the room as they turned to stare at her.

Time to end this. “Well, now that we know exactly what you both are capable of, thank you for coming.” Author rose and quickly walked across the room. “I’ve got to run.” Reaching the restroom, author slammed and locked the door. “Scary ass men.” Turning, author saw two gorgeous women peering at her as if she were crazed. “What?”

The first to speak was short and curvy with blonde hair and blue eyes. “One had mesmerizing gray eyes that shot little white lights all over the place, right?”

“And the other one had a controlling as hell attitude and he growled?” This lady had dark wavy hair, hazel eyes, and she was petite.

“You saw the bastards too?” Author breathed a sigh of relief at finding someone else who understood.

Both women laughed and replied in unison. “You met our husbands.”

Shit!
